Dale G. Renlund, an American born on November 13, 1952, has multiple identities. He is both a well-known heart specialist and an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He has been the full-time leader of the church since 2009 and now ranks as the 12th apostle in the church.
Early life
Lun Lun was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were from Finland and Sweden, and they immigrated to the United States for religious reasons. In their family, Lunlun's first language is Swedish. He lived in Sweden for three years during his teenage years, an experience that had a significant impact on his religious beliefs and medical career. From 1972 to 1974 he returned to Sweden to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church.
Medical Career
Lun Lun graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1976 and a doctorate in medicine in 1980. He subsequently completed his medical training at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiology. As a cardiologist by training, his primary focus is heart transplants. He served as medical director of the Utah Heart Transplant Program and promoted the prevention and treatment of heart disease in multiple medical settings.

LDS Church Services
Renren’s tradition of service in the LDS Church began with his service as bishop, and he subsequently served in a number of important positions, including general chairman of the Band School and member of the Senior Conference. In 2009 he became a member of the First Council of the Seventy and that same year became area president for South Africa, which enabled him to oversee Church operations in some 20 countries.
In October 2015, Lun Lun was elected an apostle and became a member of the Council of the Twelve Apostles, which considers him a prophet, seer and revelator. This moment is of special significance because it is the first time since 1906 that three new apostles have been ordained at the same time.
