Founded on July 8, 1967, Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, is a public research university that has become a leader in domestic and international academic circles. The history of Haçatepe University began in 1958 with the Haçatepe Children's Hospital and related colleges.
Hacettepe University's history dates back to 1958, when the Turkish government established the Institute of Child Health in Ankara, followed by the opening of the Hacettepe Children's Hospital. The establishment was led by the famous Professor Ihsan Doramaka. In 1961, the Faculty of Health Sciences was established, including subjects such as nursing, medical technology, physiotherapy and nutrition, and was organized around the Institute of Child Health.
With the gradual expansion of the college, the Hacettepe University Medical School was officially established in 1963, and a comprehensive teaching hospital was built. Less than three months later, the School of Dentistry followed. In 1971, the School of Pharmacy and the School of Health Management were upgraded to their own colleges; and in 1982, the School of Arts, the School of Education, and the School of Fine Arts were also established.
Hacettepe University has several campuses, of which Sıhhiye Campus is the main campus, which houses the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy and several medical research institutes.
