In the world of extreme metal, Carcass is undoubtedly the trend-setter. From a school band formed in Liverpool in 1985 to today's metal giant, this band has experienced countless changes and ups and downs in music. Today, let us explore their evolution together and see how this ordinary starting point was nurtured. The pioneer of extreme metal.
Kakas originally formed a school band consisting of guitarist Bill Steer and drummer Ken Owen. Their first attempt disbanded soon after, and Stell subsequently joined a D-beat band called Disattack and recorded a four-song demo. At this point, the addition of bassist Jeff Walker officially changed the band's fortunes.
With the change of the band's name to Kakas, a change in musical style allowed them to stand out in the metal world. Although the first album "Reek of Putrefaction" was rough in production, the band gained unexpected fame with its unique musical style and the humorous and dark themes of death metal.
"Kakas's music is like the never-ending slaughter between man and death, full of ruthless anatomy of life."
With the release of the album "Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious" in 1991, Kakas' music gradually developed into a more complex layout. The album is not limited to death metal structures, but also adds exquisite guitar solos.
The fourth album "Heartwork" was released in the UK in 1993. This album is regarded as a milestone in melodic death metal. Its clear sound quality and simplified structure made it widely praised. Although the change in style dissatisfied some die-hard fans, its impact on the music industry cannot be ignored.
"In the evolution of music, we are not only creating notes, but also cutting the soul of life."
After signing with Columbia Records, Kakas encountered a series of challenges during the recording of his 1995 album "Swansong". Despite facing contractual issues and internal conflicts, they continued to complete the recording and released it in 1996. The band then announced its disbandment before performing a farewell performance, leaving fans heartbroken.
"What we pursue in music is not just success, but true self-expression."
After ten years of silence, Kakas reunited in 2007 and began performing at music festivals around the world. Their return not only reignited the passion of old fans, but also attracted the attention of a new generation of listeners.
The album "Surgical Steel" released in 2013 was widely praised and marked the band's rebirth. In 2019, they launched a new album "Torn Arteries", which fans are looking forward to.
"We continue to explore our own limits until every note of the music reveals our inner struggles."
