With rising environmental awareness and the rise of electric transportation, Indian electric vehicle company Ola Electric is rapidly emerging as a leader in the global electric two-wheeler market. Over the next few years, the company expanded rapidly, acquiring Dutch electric scooter manufacturer Etergo in 2020.
In 2020, Ola Electric signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu government to build the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturing plant in the state, with construction starting in 2021. The factory not only focuses on the production of electric scooters, but also includes upcoming electric motorcycles, further expanding its product line.
Ola Electric received orders for 500,000 scooters within the first month of opening its factory, demonstrating strong demand for its products.
Features of Ola’s factory of the future
Ola's future factory in Tamil Nadu covers an area of 500 acres and has introduced a highly automated manufacturing process. A variety of automated robots are deployed within the factory, including on welding, painting, battery and motor assembly lines to effectively improve production efficiency.
