NuScale's secret to success: Why did they become the first SMR company to receive NRC certification?

NuScale subsequently received support from Fluor, which acquired a majority stake in the company for $3.5 million and injected $30 million in liquidity. This funding not only saved the company, but also provided guarantee for its further development.

Carbon Free Power Plan

As research and development continues to deepen, NuScale has proposed the Carbon Free Power Plan (CFPP), which plans to increase local power supply by building small modular reactors in Idaho. However, due to soaring budgets, the project was eventually canceled in 2023. NuScale continues to seek international cooperation in the cold winter and plans to build reactors in Romania and Poland in the next few years to expand its market share.

Technological innovation of reactors

NuScale's reactor design focuses on improving safety and efficiency. Its modular structure saves space in traditional nuclear power plants and uses natural convection instead of relying on electric water pumps as a cooling system. This design not only reduces operational risks but also reduces construction costs. Its 958 eight designs keep biennial refueling within traditional nuclear requirements.
