Trasimene, battle of

Abstract

The battle of Trasimene was fought, on June 21, 217 bce, between a Roman consular army of two legions and Italian allied units (some twenty-five thousand men in all) and the invading army of Hannibal, consisting of North African and Spanish veteran troops, Gallic recruits, and Numidian (North African) cavalry, about fifty-five thousand all told. \n \n \nKeywords: \n \nRoman history; \nviolence; \nwar
