Abstract
Hand hygiene compliance was 58, 46, and 34 percent in phases 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Because compliance decreased over time after improvement efforts were stopped, even with a pandemic, the authors concluded that ongoing improvement efforts are essential. The Joint Commission releases new violence prevention requirements Because of the high incidence of workplace violence in health care settings, The Joint Commission has released new and revised workplace violence prevention requirements that will go into effect on January 1, 2022. Examples of elements of performance for hospitals include establishing a process to monitor, report, and investigate occurrences of injuries to patients or personnel and property damage, among other incidents;providing training, education, and resources on preventing, recognizing, responding to, and reporting workplace violence;and establishing a workplace violence prevention program that includes such elements as a process to report incidents, policies and procedures to prevent and respond to workplace violence, and a process to support victims and witnesses.
