Regenerative medicine for advanced surgical care
Abstract
Regenerative medicine, or the ability to restore function with autologous products rather than pharmaceuticals, is an important new treatment concept. Despite recent novel developments in stem cell therapy, it could be argued that regenerative medicine is not new at all; transplantation, first done for kidneys in 1954 and hearts in 1967, is regenerative medicine.
