Kosovo: A bridge between East and West, as well as IUIS and EAACI

Abstract

Kosovo Immunology Asthma and Allergy Association (KIAAA) is a member of IUIS, EFIS and EAACI. Since 2006 KIAAA is constituent part of The Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) Member Assembly. Of note, KIAAA members, Prof. Luljeta Ahmetaj as a member of the Steering Committee and Prof. Laura Pajaziti as a member of the Scientific Program Committee, contributed to the ECI 2018 Congress that was held in Amsterdam (September 2018). Being part of EAACI, KIAAA signed the EAACI National Allergy Society Dual Membership in May 2018. This is an important step and an opportunity for the National Society to be a part of EAACI activities, including benefits that EAACI provides to its members. For instance, 62 students of the final year of medicine had an opportunity to become members of IUIS, EFIS and EAACI. It is important that students are participating in activities organized by these societies, taking into consideration that in the future over 60% of members of KIAAA will be younger than 35 years. KIAAA will be present this year in various meetings. Society members attended the EAACI congress in Lisbon. In September, Pristina will host the 11th South East European School of Immunology. In the upcoming ICI2019 in Beijing, the KIAAA president Luljeta Ahmetaj will be a Chair for the Allergy session. Through these activities, this small country aims to become a bridge between the states of East and West, and IUIS and EAACI. We hope that KIAAA activities will continue to grow, taking into consideration the growing potential of our students and upcoming scientists. International VII Conference World Asthma Day 2019
