Pneumonia risk in patients receiving clozapine

Abstract

Clozapine is highly effective in the treatment of drugā€resistant schizophrenia, but its use can be associated with significant side effects, including agranulocytosis. Adverse cardiopulmonary effects, including tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension, and pneumonia, have also been reported. According to one study, the occurrence of pneumonia was much higher within 30 days of receiving clozapine.
