Harm reduction approach effective for homeless with alcohol use disorder
Abstract
Combining behavioral harm reduction and injectable naltrexone was shown to be the most effective strategy for reducing alcohol use and improving quality of life in a study of patients experiencing alcohol use disorder and homelessness. The results suggest the potential effectiveness of alternatives to an abstinence‐based approach in addressing the needs of this difficult‐to‐treat population.
