Some genetic factors linked to risk of ADHD treatment discontinuation
Abstract
Genetic susceptibility to bipolar disorder and schizophrenia are associated with increased risk of stimulant medication discontinuation among patients with attention‐deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a study based on national register data in Denmark has concluded. The presence of a comorbid psychiatric disorder in ADHD patients also increased risk of medication discontinuation and switching, the study found.
