Analysis of Angiogenesis in Mouse Embryonic Dorsal Skin by Whole-Mount Fluorescent Staining.

Abstract

The blood vascular system is a tree-like hierarchical branching structure and needs to function even before fully established. Abnormal formation of blood vessels results in embryonic lethality and also contributes to the pathogenesis of a number of human diseases, including cancer metastasis. To understand the molecular events associated with blood vessel formation, we established a fluorescence staining-based protocol on mouse embryonic skin. We harvested mouse embryonic skin and performed whole-mount staining. The reconstructed three-dimensional vascular structure provided detailed information on\xa0angiogenesis.
