Case Study II: Skewed Power Relations
Abstract
This chapter challenges conventional understandings of Indigenous agency and responses to industrial activities on traditional Indigenous territories. By analysing the current mobilization of resources among three indigenous Metis communities in the regional municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta, this chapter develops an empirically grounded framework for understanding indigenous strategic pragmatism and the output, outcomes and impact of indigenous engagement with extractive industry developments.
