Modern Topics: Cavity Optomagnonics

Abstract

In this last chapter we will put together all concepts we learned so far to derive the basics of a topic of current research: Cavity Optomagnonics. In these systems, a magnetic insulator material forms a cavity for the light, which is used to enhance the magnon–photon coupling. We call this the optomagnonic coupling. As we pointed out in the previous chapter, the Faraday effect is usually a small effect, which depends on the Faraday rotation constant of the material and also on the path’s length of the light inside of the material.
