The Association of the Teachers of the Bologna University (AdDU): A Story of Increasing Consciousness

Abstract

The paper tells the adventure of a group of women professors of the University of Bologna who in 1991 decided to join in order to change the still very sexist culture within the University. They have imposed their presence in academic roles and their scientific expertise in research. Since then, the change has been fast. Today there are many women teachers who are part of the academic bodies and who run departments or schools in a climate of consolidated collaboration. This experience, started by a group of women of good will, has become the daily experience.
