Blood Conservation Strategies

Abstract

The cornerstone of patient blood management programs is the conservation of patient blood during the surgical procedure. There are numerous techniques available that can be used as blood conservation technique, including meticulous surgical hemostasis, cell salvage, ultrafiltration, and autologous donation. The implementation of these techniques requires a multidisciplinary approach and support of the complete surgical team.
