Harnessing the Immune System to Target Cancer Cells

Abstract

The novel developments of cancer immunotherapy demonstrated that patients’ immune system can fight cancer. However, immunotherapy strategies need optimization in order to provide benefit to a broader number of cancer patients. In addition, since cancer stem cells/cancer-initiating cells represent the component of tumor resistant to therapeutic interventions, targeting of these cells is mandatory to achieve complete eradication of tumors.
