Calamus manillensis: Phytochemical Screening and Antioxidant Activity
Abstract
This Chapter reports results of studies conducted on Calamus manillensis (Mart) including phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity. Preliminary phytochemical analysis is considered a very important step in exploring the active ingredients from the various parts of plants and evaluating their biological activities. Recently, Researchers have focused their studies on edible wild fruits isolating their bioactive compounds as promising therapies against many health disorders. The preliminary phytochemical screening of Calamus manillensis fruits revealed high polyphenol contents which exhibit significant antioxidant activity.
