Abstract

The reduced supply of drinking water is a severe problem faced by the city of Cabo Frio, RJ, Brazil. This study aims to develop a sustainability and social responsibility project using pedagogical dynamics (PD), through the Cycle of Living Activities (CLA) with real problem situations, related to the insufficient supply of water in the municipality, involving the discipline of Fundamentals of Tourism and Hospitality (FTH) of the Integrated High School Hosting Course (IHSHC). The dynamics were applied by six students of the 3rd year of the Ismar Gomes de Azevedo Education Institute (IGAEI)), who acted as monitors. The target audience were first-year students from IHSHC, from the Fluminense Federal Institute, campus Cabo Frio (FFI-CF). An exploratory methodology was used with the approach in action research. The research was developed in three stages: organisation, application of dynamics and assessment by FFI-CF students. FFI-CF students’ reflective behaviour was observed in relating theory and practice to the objectives of the discipline and enthusiasm in finding solutions to problem situations through teamwork about the questions explored. This study may interest educators working with the sustainability theme within environmental education practices.
