Digitalization in Rehabilitation

Abstract

The benefits of digital networking for patients are obvious, since better care in rural areas and for chronically ill and elderly patients is necessary and sensible solely due to structural and demographic change. It is now the task of all actors involved to integrate the already developed and new eHealth and telemedicine solutions with the best benefits for patients and physicians in regular care. It can be taken for granted that there is a lot of applications of Big Data and through the effects of digitalization. However, this should be realised under regulatory control in order to avoid possible disadvantages, even damages and costs that cannot be estimated. It would make sense, without over-optimism, to design an accurate and above all rapid evaluation and thus selection of useful and low-risk interventions. For this purpose, the methods of evidence-based medicine provide the appropriate tools for the highest benefit of all parties involved.
