Abstract

The network planning of radio frequency identification (RFID) equipment is of great significance to improve the quality of information perception in an intelligent manufacturing workshop. To reduce the interference between omnidirectional antenna readers (OARs), directional antenna readers (DARs) are introduced into the workshop and a DAR and OAR oriented hybrid RFID network planning problem is studied. Correspondingly, a hybrid RFID network planning model with two optimization objectives, the electronic tag repetition rate and reader load balancing, is established. Further, an integrated method based on genetic algorithm and redundancy reader elimination is proposed. Finally, the advantages of introducing DARs into RFID network planning, and the effectiveness of the proposed model and its solution method are clearly verified through a case study.
