Afterthoughts on an “Earthquake of Change”

Abstract

In the concluding chapter, we reflect on the contributions of this volume to (re)frame some of the social impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic crisis on the ways individuals live, think, and do family in their specific social contexts. Moreover, we discuss how the pandemic crisis and, in particular, the lockdown experiences, and the social distancing norms have been affecting the topics covered by this handbook. Finally, we reflect on the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic to our theories, concepts, and research methods, highlighting the need for multilevel and multidimensional frameworks to apprehend the complexity of such social phenomena.
