Application of Virtual Reality Technology in Training of Substation in Coal Mining Area

Abstract

The substation in the coal mining area is responsible for multiple tasks such as underground substation, power distribution, and protection. How to quickly improve the working ability of electricians in the mining area in terms of system operation and maintenance and troubleshooting during the training process, and regulate the behavior of electricians, so as to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the mining area substation is very important. According to the requirements of the National Mine Safety Administration that coal mine electricians need to strictly abide by the safety and normative requirements of the “Coal Mine Safety Regulations” and “Electrical Safety Operating Regulations”, this paper designs and develops a coal mine substation training system based on virtual reality technology. Through 3D modeling, scene building, script logic design, functional module development, etc., training functions such as roaming inspections of mining district substations, equipment learning, simulation exercises, fault simulation, and knowledge assessment have been realized. Tests show that the system provides trainees with an immersive training environment that is easy to operate, vivid, and self-service interaction, so that trainees can master the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of mining district substations faster and more deeply, greatly improving the efficiency of coal mine electrician training.
