Evaluation of Performance of Electrochemical Honing Process by ANOVA

Abstract

Electrochemical honing is an electrolytic precision micro-finishing technology based on the hybridization of the electrochemical machining and conventional honing process principles to provide the controlled functional surface generation and fast material removal capabilities in a single action. The present work presents the distinctive findings of comprehensive experimental investigations designed to explore the influence of electrochemical honing process parameters on the work surface micro-geometrical, part-macro-geometrical, and material removal aspects. In the current work, two parameters have been considered—surface rough and cylindricity of job. The current power supply, stick grit size, stick-out pressure and, electrolyte concentration are observed to be the real parameters in the process. The influence of the machining parameters on the surface finish and cylindricity has been investigated and optimized by Taguchi approach and experimental results were analyzed using the analysis of variances (ANOVA).
