Onset of DVT or Pulmonary Thromboembolism Related to the Life in a Car or Narrow Shelter: What Should We Do to Prevent the Onset of the Pulmonary Thromboembolism?

Abstract

Pulmonary embolism occurred frequently after Mid Niigata Prefecture Earthquake and Kumamoto Earthquake due to car shelter. Many calf DVTs have been detected in these areas after earthquake. It has been reported that calf DVT causes fatal pulmonary embolism. Car shelter had been demonstrated to be related with calf DVT in Kumamoto Earthquake. Also, since many people evacuated into their own car after Emilia Earthquake in Italy, many DVTs were detected 2 years after the earthquake, and a woman died from pulmonary embolism during car shelter. Therefore, car shelter after earthquake clearly relates with calf DVT and pulmonary embolism.
