Reactive Lesions of Oro-Maxillofacial Region

Abstract

A plethora of pathologies occurs in the skeletal and soft tissues of the oro-facial region that are reactive. These arise as a result of chronic low-grade inflammation, trauma, hormonal influence and other causes. Varied types of clinical, radiological and histological presentations are often associated with these lesions that pose a diagnostic dilemma to the clinician. This chapter describes in detail the common reactive lesions of the maxillofacial region with an emphasis on correlating the clinical and investigational findings to arrive at the correct diagnosis and provide appropriate treatment.
