Innovation in Developing and Less Developed Countries: An Overview

Abstract

To do so this chapter will discuss the empirical evidence underlying innovative activity in developing and less developed nations. One of the main insights that this chapter will provide a substantiation of is that the fundamental of creating an ecosystem of innovation is capability building, and in the absence of this an entire gamut of innovation opportunities remains untapped. Thus for a larger proportion of poorer countries the pursuit of innovation so far has not been inclusive.
