Abstract


Water is the primary natural resource for all creatures on this earth including human being, animals and plants. Clean water is important to ensure good health and basic needs for all living beings. Water needs to be preserved and conserved to ensure its continuity and for future use. But, the rapid exploitation of development and advancement in this present era by greedy human affecting the greenery of natural resources including river, lake and seas which are contaminated with industrial effluents and excessive toxic from waste disposal. Besides, the excessive use of water by humans also contributes to the water crisis nowadays. These situations contradict with the good values in Islam in preserving and saving water. A solution needs to be taken in order to overcome the water crisis which reflects the suffering for the difficulty to obtain clean water especially for potable water supply. One of the initiatives is by doing the water treatment for used water (musta’mal) and contaminated water (mutanajjis). Hence, this study aims to review the water treatment from Fiqh and science perspectives and suggest the best solution to overcome this water crisis. Methodology for this study is qualitative method by having document analysis towards Fiqh thurath books and articles related to the studied topic. Findings for this study show there is permission for water to be treated and recycle for human daily life use such as drinking, bathing and also for religious purposes like ablution and ghusl wajib. Hence, there is symbiosis in the methods purposed by Fiqh and science views in water treatment aspects which are supporting and completing each other.
