Implementation of a coordinated voltage control algorithm for a microgrid via SCADA-as-a-service approach

 
 
 
 

Abstract


Coordinated voltage control CVC is necessary in microgrid with high penetration of distributed renewable energy resources, to keep the voltage in required range and to optimize the grid performance. The SCADA-as-a-service (SCADA-aaS) approach allows the secured deployment of CVC and provides the interoperability framework for the network operators to distribute their CVC algorithm to remote microgrid or to implement a third-party CVC. This paper presents the first real-world implementation of CVC algorithm deployment via SCADA-aaS. This real-world implementation demonstrates the feasibility of the SCADA-aaS approach. Experiences and lessons learned from the implementation are discussed.
