Abstract

Lamotrigine is one of the most important anti-epileptic drugs and is widely used to control seizure. Electrochemical sensors are fast response, easy operation, and low-cost devices which are used for determination of different analysts in low concentrations. Here, a modified carbon paste electrode, based on nanomagnetic core–shell (Fe3O4@SiO2) and reduced graphene oxide has been introduced for electrocatalytic oxidation and determination of lamotrigine. The synthesized nano-composite electrochemical device was first evaluated for its physicochemical characteristics using several analytical methods of FT-IR, XRD, and SEM. The sensor was then tested against its ability for sensitive determination of the lamotrigine in different conditions. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve of lamotrigine was linear in the range of 0.001–3 µM, and the detection limit was 0.7 nM. The as-prepared electrochemical sensor was also successfully used for quantification of the lamotrigine in tablet and plasma samples.
