Alkylation of imidazole and benzotriazole derivatives by 1,3-diiodopropan-2-one in the absence of a base

Abstract

The reaction of imidazole and benzotriazole derivatives with 1,3-diiodopropan-2-one in the absence of bases and catalysts leads to the formation of linear and cyclic salt systems in one preparative step.
