Sieving the Rationals

Abstract

J. Kubilius developed the model for transferring the problems related to the value distributions of arithmetical functions to those for independent random variables. The key step consists of approximation of number-theoretic frequencies by probabilistic measures using the sieving methods. We present a sieve result for rational numbers as an analogue of that in the Kubilius model.
