SNDR Measurement of Radio Over Fiber System Based on High Performance Generation Method Along with Optic Amplifier Link

Abstract

Signal to noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) has been investigated for radio over fiber (RoF) system based on Dual Drive Mach Zehender modulator (DD-MZM) using high performance generation 120° phase shift method and optical amplifier as erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) in both noise and distortion generated conditions. The analytical analysis has been carried out along with simulation results. An SNDR of 90.97\xa0dB at 20\xa0km transmission distance is obtained by employing EDFA in noise governing condition with 120° phase shift method for RoF System which is greater than the obtained SNDR of 68.76\xa0dB with 90° conventional method without EDFA for RoF System. Thus, significantly SNDR improvement has been observed by EDFA in noise dominant condition while no significant improvement is observed in distortion dominant condition. Thus, the proposed phase shift method can provide an important prospective for cost effective RoF system with EDFA for enhancing their performance against noisy environment.
