Mechanical and Corrosion Behavior of Inconel 718 Nickel-Based Super Alloy Doped with Graphene Nanoplatelets

 
 

Abstract


An application of Inconel 718 nickel-based super alloy at higher temperatures leads to decreased mechanical properties. Hence, this study evaluated mechanical properties and corrosion behavior on Inconel 718 doped with graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs). Mechanical properties were carried out between pure Inconel 718 nickel-based super alloy and Inconel 718 doped with GNPs. Furthermore, corrosion behavior on both materials was characterized in 1\xa0wt.% H2SO4. Analysis showed improved mechanical properties from the Inconel 718 doped with GNPs. Corrosion curves also showed noble degradation on Inconel 718 doped with GNPs.
