Tumor Thrombus in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: a Breaking Bad

Abstract

Tumor thrombus is an intravascular extension of the tumor; it is associated with poor prognosis. Among gastrointestinal malignancies, tumor thrombus is commonly associated with hepatocellular carcinoma. It is very important to differentiate tumor thrombus from bland thrombus as it changes the prognosis and treatment approach. Radiology play a vital role here, tumor thrombus is seen in continuity with the primary tumor, it enhances with intravenous contrast, and it expands the vein. We report a case of recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma with middle hepatic vein tumor thrombus.
