Methotrexate

Abstract

Treatment failure : case report In retrospective cohort study which included 30 women diagnosed with caesarean scar pregnancy and treated with a single dose of ultrasound-guided local methotrexate between April 2015 and July 2017 at a tertiary hospital in Vietnam, a woman [age not stated] was described, who experienced treatment failure during treatment with methotrexate for caesarean scar pregnancy. The woman, who was diagnosed with caesarean scar pregnancy, was hospitalised and underwent a transvaginal ultrasound to assess the gestational sac and the presence of a foetal pole. A 22-G needle was inserted into the gestational sac with an adaptor under transvaginal ultrasound. The amniotic fluid and foetal tissues were aspirated and methotrexate [Unitrexate] 50mg/2mL was slowly injected into the gestational sac. However, the treatment failure was noted. As a result, she underwent curettage, and no other complications were noted.
