Amiodarone/phenytoin/thalidomide

Abstract

Organising pneumonia: 4 case reports In a retrospective study involving 23 patients, conducted between January 2017 to September 2019, 4 patients including 2 men and 2 women aged 62–79 years were described, who developed organising pneumonia (OP) during treatment with amiodarone, phenytoin or thalidomide [routes, dosages and durations of treatment to reactions onsets not stated; not all indications stated]. The patients had been receiving treatment with thalidomide (1 patient) for refractory multiple myeloma, and amiodarone (2 patients) and phenytoin (1 patient) for unspecified indications. Subsequently, the patients presented with respiratory symptoms. Based on the clinico-radiological investigations, a diagnosis of OP was made. Amongst the 4 patinets, 2 patients additionally showed the Atoll sign. The patient’s amiodarone, phenytoin and thalidomide were stopped. Out of the 4 pateints, 1 patient was treated with unspecified steroids. At a follow-up after 6 months or 1 year, all the patients showed clinical and radiologic improvement.
