Silk materials for biotechnology

Abstract

Abstract In this chapter, an application of silk proteins in the biotechnological field will be introduced. Starting from how we can obtain the silk proteins as raw material, some principle of fabrication methods will be introduced to produce a specific solid form. In the application of silk proteins, requirements for each application will be introduced and how silk proteins meet those requirements will be explained. Detailed results will not be described here because there are plenty of good reviews on each application. The aim of this chapter is to provide new insights into the old ancient materials.
