Applications of Dry Vapor Steam Cleaning Technique for Removal of Surface Contaminants
Abstract
Abstract Dry vapor steam cleaning is an efficient and economical technique for removal of surface contaminants and for elimination of microbial contaminants. The technique uses dry steam (4–6% moisture) at high temperatures to emulsify hydrocarbon contaminants and to destroy microbial contaminants. Steam cleaning is a viable alternative to solvent cleaning in various applications, including cleaning of metal surfaces, electronic components, gilded art objects and anilox rollers, decontamination of microbially-contaminated surfaces, disinfection and sterilization, food decontamination, weed extermination, and radioactive decontamination.
