Abstract

Abstract Emerging sources of biopolymers are discussed. Algae is an excellent substrate for biopolymer production because of its several advantages like high yield and the ability to grow in multiple environments. Algae-based plastics are emerging rapidly into the market. Although very small, they show great promise because these are renewable. Several companies are conducting research in the field of algae biopolymer.
