Abstract

Abstract There are many studies on the discovery and development of new generation energy sources. Among these fuel sources, hydrogen is an environmentally friendly and renewable energy source. However, it is seen as an important obstacle to commercialization of hydrogen because of its cost-effectiveness. However, these problems are aimed to be overcome by the presence of various hydrogen sources. Amine borane derivatives among hydrogen sources are preferred for their ease of use, hydrogen content, and nonflammable properties. Dimethylamine borane (DMAB) is a highly preferred source of hydrogen as one of the amine borane derivatives. The hydrogenation reaction and the resulting products of DMAB will be discussed in this study. In addition, suitable catalysts should be preferred for carrying out the hydrogenation reaction. So far, several studies have been conducted for the release and catalytic activity of hydrogen from DMAB. This section will focus on the DMAB hydrolysis and dehydrogenation reaction and provide a list of the catalysts used so far.
