Hybrid membrane technique: a technological advancement of textile waste effluent treatment

Abstract

Abstract The growing interest of fresh water resources as well as substantial scarcity of water has become a worldwide concern today. As a consequence, the attempts toward upgrading the available water, mainly originating from the various industrial effluents as a large volume of wastewater to treat in an efficient technique and reuse the water. Conventional methods associated with water treatment unit, either in waste water treatment plants or reverse osmosis desalination plants, have experienced numerous complications which directly influenced their effectiveness. A rising attention has favored toward the technological improvement against conventional process to overcome the limitations associated with it. One of the emerging technologies for waste water treatment is membrane-based separation. Nowadays, researchers are focusing on a hybrid or integrated separation technique for the efficient waste water treatment. This current chapter is concentrating on the industrial waste effluent mainly from textile industries, one of the utmost levels of pollutant bearing water treatment methodology using a hybrid membrane separation process unit. The chapter is attempting to provide an exhaustive idea on hybrid membrane techniques toward the textile effluent treatment.
