Open Bankart Procedure for Recurrent Anterior Shoulder Dislocation

Abstract

Shoulders that have recurrent anterior instability can usually be corrected using arthroscopic methods. However, in some instances, open repair of the avulsed anterior glenoid labrum (Bankart lesion) to the glenoid rim (Bankart procedure) gives a better result. This chapter describes the open Bankart repair.
