Hypertensive Urgency and Eclampsia
Abstract
Abstract There exists a spectrum of maternal complications related to elevated blood pressure during pregnancy. The most severe of these is eclampsia, which is defined as new-onset, generalized, tonic-clonic seizures or coma in a patient with preeclampsia. Management of eclampsia includes magnesium sulfate to reduce the risk of recurrent seizure and blood pressure stabilization. Diagnosis of eclampsia is an indication for delivery.
