Manufacturing organization transformation – How customization of project life cycle and project governance for custom solution enhances the chances of success

Abstract

Abstract Demand for custom solutions is trending. As a result, manufacturing organizations are increasingly challenged to transform from hardware-centric to solution-centric. Many have started either through custom project life cycle or custom project governance. The authors initiated a case study to demonstrate the value of custom project life cycle that is coupled with custom project governance, and to test the personalization theory. Apart from executing actual transformation that utilized the customization, additional data was collected through face-to-face interviews. The findings suggest that custom project life cycle that is coupled with custom project governance could enhance the chances of success.
