Abstract

Abstract Based on the two-film theory, mass transfer absorption model and absorption efficiency model of sodium aerosols in turbulent contact absorber (TCA) were successfully established. The structure of TCA and the primary parameters for the TCA have been designed and determined. An industrial TCA was accordingly built and process flow of sodium aerosols absorption system was designed and put into use. The validation of the models have been conducted, comparisons between the model calculation efficiencies and the industrial data of Na2O absorption under different liquid–gas ratios demonstrated that the model calculations compared favorably with the industrial test data. The gas–liquid mass transfer behavior in the turbulent contact absorber can be well reflected via the models, and the designed turbulent contact absorber has provided industrial applications for sodium aerosols removal in reality.
