RETRACTED: Influence of hygrothermal effect on dynamic buckling of composite slender column

 
 
 

Abstract


Abstract Composite slender columns are often affected by buckling instability and hygrothermal effect during their service life. A dynamic model of composite slender column subjected to axial impact load in the hygrothermal effect is established in this paper, and axial and transverse motion governing equations of the model are derived. Then, an analytical solution of axial displacement is obtained by using Laplace transform; employing the Galerkin method, the characteristic equation of transverse motion is given, and critical dynamic buckling time is obtained. Finally, the influence of the related properties of an impactor and the slender column on dynamic buckling is discussed in the different hygrothermal effects. Additionally, fragment lengths of brittle material are predicted based on wavelengths of buckling mode.
