Deliverable to improve air quality using NDVI analysis for Ahmedabad City: Addressing the agendas of SDG

Abstract

Abstract The pace of urbanization and challenges accompanied by the development process for cities need urgent attention from various perspectives. The recent trends of city development not only show the depleting environmental conditions but shows the lack of concern to address such issues. The deteriorating environment in urbanizing areas has gained attention globally and locally. Globally, it has been addressed through the Sustainable Development Goals. At different scales of planning and decision making, they are resolved using the specific targets. Many approaches are locally possible to negotiate the impacting factors of the deteriorating environment and increasing pollution levels. It tries to address the concern highlighted by Sustainable development goals and their targets set for mitigating the problems and describes the Air pollution aspect for the city of Ahmedabad. Out of such concerns, this research paper tries to focus on SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) to gain insight into the situation through a case study based approach. It also scrutinizes the prevailing practice of the Developmental processes and focuses on alternative means of assessment using NDVI analysis for helping informed decision-making process in the development of the city.
