Abstract

Abstract The investigation of the light scattering properties for electrospun nanofibrous membranes is paramount for color yield-regulating of colorful nanofiber mats. In this manuscript, the light scattering properties of electrospun poly (acrylonitrile) (PAN) nanofibrous membranes and correlation with color yield was investigated. Through varying the internal structure of PAN nanofibrous membranes to decrease light scattering intensity, the color yield of mats can be further enhanced. Specifically, through tuning the membrane thickness from 32 to 6\xa0μm, the K/S value of colored nanofiber mat could be improved more than 4 times due to decreased reflectance (from 70 to 32%). Similarly, through adjusting fiber diameter in mats from 207 to 783\xa0nm, color yield can also be enhanced more than 2 times with variable reflectance. Furthermore, based on the excellent anti-glare effect, nanofibrous membranes with three distinct colors were fabricated to obtain the colorful light-emitting diode (LED) with ideal light scattering characteristics.
